I’ve been absent from the channel for the better part of three months, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy. In fact, big doins’ occurred during my hiatus and over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing those adventures and perspectives with all of you.
After more than five years of planning, I finally found the time and finances to make a dream vacation come true — at least 33% of it. In early July I left on a 17-state/2-province road tour through Canada and the northern half of the United States. The 4-week trip breached the top of the Great Lakes, traveled through Big Sky, terminated at the West Coast, and matriculated back to the Midwest — while hitting all the major scenic and historical stops along the way that were worth experiencing.
I documented most of the sights and sounds with my camera, taking many hours of video and nearly 2,000 photos. Most of it I’ll share with you, along with my thoughts and feelings on the places I visited and how you can plan a similar trip too. Next year I will complete another 1/3 of this road trip — the southern loop — and in 2019 finish things off with a tour up the Northeast and into eastern Canada.
Since returning from the trip in mid August, I had to play catch-up on all things work-related. Since I mostly work for myself, that meant everything had to be put on hold while I was away — that means it all piled up upon my return and left me without much of an income for over a month. Since August I’ve been knuckling down to catch up on the workload and replenish petty cash so Im not living on instant noodles and Fruit Loops.
Other things politically, socially, and car-related have also occurred since my last update. We’ll talk about all those things in the near future as well.
